Chincoteague is just 2 and a half hours from Charlotte. The largest lake in the area is Watauga Lake. There are also several parks in the area including Grandfather Mountain, Pisgah National Forest, and Cherokeee National Forest.
I take it you got your name from Chincotegue and Assategue Islands in VA? Wasn’t Chicotegue the place with ferrel hourses and Assategue the Navy base? I had some good summer times there.
