The Blue Heron Point community is gated and security patrolled. Private boat slips are offered with all waterfront sites. Lake Lure, which covers some 720 acres with water depths ranging from 15 feet to 155 feet, is home to several species of trout, bass, crappie, catfish, bluegills and sunperch.

There are 15 golf courses within 20 miles of the lake. Besides golf and fishing, people enjoy boating, swimming, horse riding and panning for gold and precious gems. Charlotte, Greenville, Asheville and Hendersonville offer nearby shopping, dining, quality hospitals and cultural events.
